Extract G-force is the number to read
Higher extract speed removes more water mechanically, which is cheap, so the dryer removes less thermally, which is expensive. Moving from 100G to 300G extract can cut dry time by roughly a third, and drying is usually the largest energy line in the plant.
Hard-mount versus soft-mount
Soft-mount machines reach higher extract speeds without a reinforced foundation, which makes them the practical choice for upper floors and retrofits. Hard-mount is cheaper where a slab already exists.
Gas versus electric drying
Gas is usually cheaper per pound of water removed where a supply exists. Electric avoids venting and combustion air requirements. The decision is normally made by the building, not the machine.
